Viking Marine Boats & Outboards Expert Advice
Tuesday, September 7, 2010

Powerboats, where do we start? At one end of the scale we have entry level speedboats and from there the sky's the limit. For sportsboats we chose Grew a range of Canadian handbuilt boats for a couple of reasons. Firstly they are not mass produced so they offer something a little bit classier than the standard sterndrive starter boat for the same money. Secondly they offer them in a range of outboard models. Outboard driven boats now offer a real alternative to sterndrive inboards. Yes they cost a bit more to start with but in the long term you will reap the savings in terms of low maintenace and fuel efficiency. If you are heading for saltwater we would seriously recommend considering one plus as a bonus outboard boats have more interior space for the same length of boat . Give us a call and we'll give you the pros and cons. If you are looking for something a bit bigger we can highly recommend the Nordwest  Yachts range from Sweden. Beautiful hand crafted motoryachts that definitely don't fit in to the "Gin Palace" category. Specify  a Volvo Penta IPS system and even a first timer can dock  a 40 footer singlehanded in the tightest of spots.
